Tripodal Silver Jar with Confucian Story in the Landscape

Tang Dynasty

Height: 6.1cm   Caliber: 3.3cm   Weight: 70g

Unearthed from Yaoxian County, Shaanxi Province in 1958

The tripodal silver jar with the inscriptions of three anecdotes about Confucius in the form of a comic strip typifies the style and patterns of the gold and silver wares in the late Tang Dynasty, when the Chinese traditional patterns returned to be the dominant theme of decoration.
