Painted Female Figure

Yuan Dynasty

21.8 centimeters high

Unearthed from the Eastern Suburbs of Xi'an City in 1964

After the Mongolians entered the Central Plains, their living customs were greatly influenced by the Han people, and the traditional clothes of the Mongols and the Han nationality had a subtle change in their mutual integration.

This female figure is an image of the Han nationality, and the dress has the characteristics of the Han and the Mongolian. However, the small feet under the robe reveal the bad habit of foot-binding of Han women, which forms a sharp contrast with the unrestrained life of the women in the Tang Dynasty and the Mongolian women at that time.
